How to access Perkins/Strong Workforce Funds for Professional Development Activities

CCSF's Workforce Development Office maintains Perkins and Strong Workforce Program funds to support the professional development of Career Education faculty, staff, and administrators.

Given current funding limitations and the need to maximize the impact of available resources, we strongly encourage participation in professional development opportunities within California, particularly those offered in the San Francisco Bay Area. Funding for out-of-state conferences and travel will be extremely limited during the 2026–27 academic year. Requests for out-of-state travel will be considered only on a case-by-case basis and must demonstrate a compelling benefit to the college and the advancement of the program (e.g., accreditation requirements, invited presentations, or other exceptional circumstances). Depending on available funding and the total cost of the request, approved out-of-state travel may be only partially funded, and applicants may be expected to identify other funding sources to cover remaining expenses. All out-of-state travel requests are subject to the approval of college leadership.

Please note: Faculty should submit professional development funding requests at least 30 days prior to the activity. Requests involving out-of-state travel should be submitted at least two months in advance to allow sufficient time for District and Board approval processes. The Workforce Development Office will review requests as they are received and award available funds on a first-come, first-served basis. Because funding is limited, applicants are encouraged to submit requests as early as possible. All funded activities must be completed, and all reimbursement documentation submitted in accordance with District and grant deadlines for the 2026–27 fiscal year.
