Free, Noncredit Classes Throughout San Francisco

City College of San Francisco offers an extensive schedule of day, evening and weekend noncredit classes. Classes are held at various CCSF locations and are all tuition-free

How to Apply

To apply for noncredit classes, you may complete a noncredit admissions application online or you can visit the CCSF Center you plan to attend and submit the application to the Office of Admission and Enrollment.

Placement Testing

To assist you in selecting the appropriate courses, students registering for ESL or vocational classes should take the placement test. Testing is offered at several CCSF centers.  Contact the center(s) where you will go take the test:

Noncredit Admissions Frequently Asked Questions
  • 18 years of age or older
  • A minor who may benefit from instruction and has permission from both the local high school district and a parent/guardian
  • Students with a F1 visa may enroll in noncredit courses, however, they must be enrolled in a full-time status (twelve units) at their home school.  NONCREDIT COURSES CANNOT COUNT TOWARD FULL-TIME STATUS.  Please check with your international counselor for more information.
  • A B-1/B-2 Visa is prohibited from taking classes.

CCSF Student Photo ID Cards are available for credit and noncredit students. You must be registered in the current semester in order to obtain new or replacement Student Photo ID cards. Please contact your campus for hours of availability to obtain a Photo ID card.

  • Unofficial transcript may be obtained by the student via myRAM.
  • Official transcript may be requested via email at nc_admit@ccsf.edu.

Due to the school closure as a result of the shelter-in-place order, the Noncredit department will not be offering official transcripts until further notice.

Noncredit students are eligible for financial aid as long as you enroll in a qualify noncredit certificate program. Please contact the financial aid office for eligibilities.

Students who have fulfilled the certificate program course requirements as stated in the CCSF college catalog may petition to receive their certificate.
