City College is implementing a COVID vaccine mandate for in-person classes and services. Students will need to submit proof of vaccination, or request an exemption from this requirement, before registering for in-person Spring 2023 classes. Free, Noncredit Classes Throughout San Francisco

City College of San Francisco offers an extensive schedule of day, evening and weekend noncredit classes. Classes are held at various CCSF locations and are all tuition-free.

How to Apply and Register

New Noncredit students can complete and submit the online Noncredit Application.

Please refer to the Application Guide for instructions on how to fill out the application.

Or, submit a Qualtrics Application to the Office of Noncredit Admissions and Records. 

Note: Student will receive a welcome email confirmation with student ID number starting with an S, @, W, or WA.

After receiving your student ID# starting with an S, @, W, or WA, please use our self-guided placement tool to find your noncredit ESL level.

Financial Aid

Noncredit students are eligible for financial aid as long as you enroll in a qualifying noncredit certificate program. Please contact the financial aid office for eligibility.

  1. Schedule a counseling appointment or drop-in session with Counseling Services
  2. During the counseling session students will create a Student Education Plan (SEP).  A Student Education Plan (SEP) is a semester by semester map of the course you need to complete in order to achieve your educational goal at CCSF.

Noncredit Records Request

Student may request by submitting a Transcript Request Form and a photo ID to nc_admit@ccsf.edu.

Please allow 2 to 4 weeks to process.

Records prior to Fall 1984 require at least 6 to 8 weeks processing time.

Note: CCSF transcripts do not contain courses in progress.

You may view and print out a copy of your unofficial CCSF transcript for free in your myRAM Portal

  1. Login to myRAM Portal with your student ID and password.
  2. Click on Student Portal
  3. Click on myProfile
  4. Click on Unofficial Transcript to view your up to date unofficial transcript.
  5. To print a copy of your unofficial transcript, use your browser print option.

Note: CCSF transcripts do not contain courses in progress.

Student may request for an enrollment verification by submitting a FERPA Authorization form and a photo ID to nc_admit@ccsf.edu.

Submit a Duplicate Diploma or Certificate Request Form and a photo ID to nc_admit@ccsf.edu.

Please allow 3 months to receive your certificate after submission.

Noncredit Admissions Frequently Asked Questions
  • 18 years of age or older
  • A minor who may benefit from instruction and has permission from both the local high school district and a parent/guardian
  • Noncredit classes are for students who are currently living in California.
  • Students with a F1 visa may enroll in noncredit courses, however, they must be enrolled in a full-time status (twelve units) at their home school.  NONCREDIT COURSES CANNOT COUNT TOWARD FULL-TIME STATUS.  Please check with your international counselor for more information.
  • A B-1/B-2 Visa is prohibited from taking classes.

CCSF Student Photo ID Cards are available for credit and noncredit students. You must be registered in the current semester in order to obtain new or replacement Student Photo ID cards. Please contact your campus for hours of availability to obtain a Photo ID card.

  • Unofficial transcript may be obtained by the student via myRAM.
  • Official transcript may be requested via email at nc_admit@ccsf.edu.

Students who have fulfilled the certificate program course requirements as stated in the CCSF college catalog may petition to receive their certificate by submitting an online petition form. 

Please allow 3 months to receive your certificate after submission.

Faculty Resources
  1. Log in to myCCSF
  2. Go to myRAM Portal
  3. Click on Faculty Services
  4. Click on Drop Roster
  5. Double click on the class under Subject of the course that you need to report Census
  6. Click on the drop box under Action to choose Drop with W for students you need to drop
  7. Click the Submit button at the bottom of the page after all Action is chosen.  When there is no Action to drop students, you will still need to click on the Submit button to complete the Census submission process
  8. Verify the list and click on Confirm
  9. Students dropped successfully message will appear
  10. Select another class and start over if you have more than one class
  1. Log in to myCCSF
  2. Go to myRAM Portal
  3. Click on Faculty Services
  4. Click on Drop Roster
  5. All CRNs will display. Double click on Total Roster for the class that you want to drop students
  6. A list of students for that CRN will display. Click the drop down menu under Action and choose Drop with W
  7. Click the Submit button at the end when finish
  8. Click the Confirm button
  9. A “Dropped Successfully” message appears

  2. Go to myRAM Portal
  3. Click on Faculty Services 
  4. Click on Final Grades 
  5. Click on a class under the Grading Status that needs to enter grade
  6. Assign grade using the drop down menu
  7. Click the Save button at the bottom of each page
  8. A "Save Successful" message appears
