Membership

The CCSF Curriculum Committee reviews and approves courses and programs to ensure they meet state and local standards, comply with Title 5 and Ed Code, and reflect the college’s mission and commitment to student success. As a quadripartite body—faculty, administrators, classified staff, and students—the Curriculum Committee helps guide curriculum development in student-centered, creative ways, fostering culturally responsive and accessible design before recommending approvals to the Board of Trustees and Chancellor’s Office. Important conversations take place regularly regarding various curriculum areas, including general education, distance learning, workforce responsiveness, noncredit possibilities, equity integration, methodological practices, legislative actions, and institutional structures. In the process of interacting and collaborating interdepartmentally, members not only shape the quality and direction of CCSF’s academic offerings but their own curriculum writing and classroom practices. Membership means playing a direct role in supporting innovation, integrity, and inclusive excellence in the college’s curriculum, which is at the heart of CCSF.

  • Twenty-two faculty are appointed by the Executive Council of the Academic Senate
  • Six administrators are appointed by the Chancellor (or their designee)
  • One classified staff member is appointed by SEIU

  • Two students may be appointed by the Executive Council of the Associated Students
  • Permanent positions (updated Sept '21): Articulation Officer, Educational Technology Department Chair, Requisites Coordinator, SLO Curriculum Liaison, CTE Curriculum Liaison, Curriculum Specialist, and resource positions (Chief Instructional Officer or Designee, Dean of Financial Aid & Special Programs, Associate Dean of Workforce Development, Associate Dean of Adult Education, Pathways Committee Chair)
  • The DEA Subcommittee's work shifted during Spring '26, when the Distance Education Coordinator became part of the course outline approval workflow. When needed, members of the Curriculum Committee will serve as resources for the Distance Education Coordinator. This shift away from the subcommittee, which did tremendous work over many years, coincided with distance ed addenda being embedded in course outline tabs instead of being separate documents with distinct tech review approvals. Approvals will continue to be in accordance with California administrative code and regulation, specifically Title 5 (55200. Definition and Application; 55202. Course Quality Standards; 55204. Instructor Contact; 55206. Separate Course Approval) and meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
  • The CCSF GE and Grad Requirement Subcommittee is a Curriculum Committee workgroup comprised of faculty, including the Articulation Officer, Curriculum Committee Chair, and SLO Coordinator(s). The GE Subcommittee is a resource for envisioning changes that may be needed pertaining to CCSF's GE pattern, local graduation requirements, and Title 5 regulations. Work shall include student perspectives and aspirations for more equitable outcomes.
