Course Schedule and Catalog Deadlines
Dates below represent deadlines to submit outlines and addenda with effective fall and spring dates for the 2026-27 academic year. We always work two semesters in advance to deal with local and state approvals, as well as catalog processing deadlines, so always think a year in advcance. I.e., Spring '26 Curriculum Committee approval means the item will be active for Spring '27. NOTE - Most items have fall start dates, and for catalog consistency, degree and certificate modifications can only have a fall effective semester.

UC Transferability & Cal-GETC
- For course approval and local GE, we look at a one-year approval process (a course submitted in F'26 will be effective F'27.)
- UC Transfer Course Agreements (UC TCA) and Cal-GETC submission dates require careful planning of new course submissions.
- UC TCA requests are submitted in June of each year, and if approved, are effective Fall semester of the same year (June '26 submission=Fall '26 effective)
- Cal-GETC requests are submitted in December of each year, and if approved, are effective Fall semester of the following year (December '26 submission=Fall '27 effective)
- A course must have UC TCA approval before it can be submitted for Cal-GETC; therefore, departments are advised to submit new courses a semester early, in the Spring. Here are two scenarios:
- One semester early: ECON 2652 is submitted in Spring '26 for effective Fall '27; it is approved and granted CCSF GE Area 4 effective Fall '27 ; it is submitted for UC TCA in June '26 and is approved; it is submitted for Cal-GETC Area 4 in December '26 for Fall '27 effective and is approved. ECON 2652 is fully articulated by the time the course is offered in Fall '27.
- Regular schedule, submitted in Fall: ECON 2652 is submitted in Fall '26 for effective Fall '27; it is approved and granted CCSF GE Area 4 effective Fall '27; it is submitted for UC TCA in June '27 and is approved; it is submitted for Cal-GETC Area 4 in December '27 for Fall '28 effective and is approved. ECON 2652 has CCSF GE Area 4 and UC TCA effective Fall '27, but does not have Cal-GETC Area 4 until Fall '28. (Note: For clarity, departments are advised to wait to offer a course until it is fully articulated.)
- Courses that already have UC TCA that are requesting a new GE Area can submit in the Fall semester.
- Departments that wish to create a CCN course for a course we don't currently offer should follow the "One semester early" scenario, building a non-CCN version of the course for Spring approval and June UC TCA submission; then a CCN-clone revision will be launched in the Fall.
Programs
- New programs approved by the Curriculum Committee by Nov. 12 AND with state approval received prior to February 18 will be published in the 2026-27 printed catalog.
- New programs with state approval received after February 18 will be published in the Catalog Addendum and the spring online catalog.
- Programs must not include historical or deactivated courses. Courses should be modified prior to programs relying on those courses. Review which versions of courses are in the program blocks.
- Modified programs must be done in time for the Catalog, meaning no Spring approval dates for modifications, just new programs.
Reminders
- Please review the Expiration Explained page.
- Please submit early and do not wait for the deadlines! Since outlines have a six-year shelf life, it is best to begin the modification process 4.5-5 years from the current outline's approval date, as state-level processing can take a couple of semesters.
- Remember, course and program aggregate reports must be launched within 18 months prior to outline modification submissions. These assessment reports pull together the results of individual section-level reports and should inform outline revision. Allow time for analysis, reflection, and conversation. Consult your chair or course/program coordinator about the currency of the aggregate report you need. See the new CurrIQunet assessment and search guides!
- Items submitted for review that do not meet College standards and require extensive corrections will take longer to process.
- Originators are responsible for responding rapidly and fully to change requests and monitoring progress.
- Whenever possible, submit a family of courses together. (E.g., submit modifications of ART 160 A, B, C, and D concurrently instead of at different times). This will enhance consistency and the overall process.
- When modifying a course, modify its addenda (DEA) too.
- The Curriculum Committee can never guarantee when curriculum will be reviewed, completed or approved, even when deadlines are met. The committee makes every effort to process proposals that meet the deadlines as quickly as resources permit. Early attention to quality standards and early submission increase the chances of timely approval.
