Career counseling assist students and alumni in exploring their interests, personality preferences, skills and values to develop realistic career options that best fits their talents. Academic Counseling assists you in identifying the correct courses to take and can support you in creating an educational plan to meet your graduation and/or transfer goals. 

A career plan combines self-assessment, exploration, and decision-making to launch the steps needed for career success. It can include both short and long-term goals through college and beyond. A career plan will assist you in completing an educational plan effectively. An education plan is a semester-by-semester map of the exact courses you need to complete to reach your specific educational goal, such as earning a degree, getting a certificate, or transferring to a four-year university.

Career counseling helps guide students and alumni through self-assessment, exploration, research and decision-making. This including identifying major and career paths that align with your personal strengths, values, and long-term goals with specific academic paths and career outcomes.

Career assessment consists of a battery of career tests that include interest surveys, personality inventories, skills assessments and values clarification. These are provided free of charge at the Career Center or in Career Development classes and workshops.

Most CCSF departments offer CCSF students on-campus opportunities. To learn more about potential opportunities and/or the hiring process, visit the Office of (On- Campus) Student Employment. You can also make an appointment with a career counselor for support. 

All off-campus jobs are posted on Handshake which can be accessed through the MyCCSF portal. In addition, Handshake offers students and alumni the ability to create a profile, share your resume, access career-related articles and video content, and a calendar of career events. 

The Career Center welcomes all international students to meet with counselors to explore their career options and employment opportunities. Students seeking employment for CPT or OPT can benefit from resume, cover letter, interviewing, and job search support.

The Career Development classes are designed to provide students and alumni an opportunity to explore their career options, decide on a major, prepare for the job search and successfully transition from college to career. All career (CRER 60, 61, and 62) classes are for credit.
