Apply to the Home Health Aide/Nurse Assistant (CNA) Program

The Home Health Aide/CNA Program is a short term intensive (one semester) training program. 

This training program prepares you for entry-level employment on the nursing career ladder. At the end of this program, you will be ready to take the State Certification Exam for Nursing Assistant and with the basic skills you have learned, you will be prepared to care for patients in convalescent homes, skilled nursing facilities and acute care hospitals.

Program Orientation & Application

All applicants must complete an application to the Vocational Nursing Program. These applications will be provided at the mandatory program orientation.

Orientations last approximately two (2) hours. Please arrive 10 minutes before the schedule in order to be seated. Due to limited space, we cannot allow visitors or children. No entry to the Auditorium after Orientation starts.

Admission Requirements

  1. Attend ONE mandatory program orientation
  2. Students must be 18 years or older. 
  3. Completion of ESL 184 or ENGL 88 or readiness for college-level English.
  4. Completion of the PREREQ: Certification of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); approved by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross for Basic Life Support (BLS) for Provider only. (CCSF offers EMT 12 BLS Provider course, see current Class Schedule)
  5. A physical exam and current immunizations
  6. Fingerprinting (Live Scan form) submitted to the Department of Health Services. 
  7. Criminal background check/drug test.
