Vocational Nursing and Home Health Aide/Nurse Assistant

Our Mission

In an effort to conceptualize its reason for being, the department developed the following mission statement. Since its founding in 1948, the Licensed Vocational Nurse Department has been dedicated to Vocational Nurse Education, and later, Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aide Education. The faculty is constantly exploring more creative and innovative measures to assure the quality of education while being faithful to its basic principles.

The City College of San Francisco’s Licensed Vocational Nursing Department provides curricula that prepare students for 1) State Licensure in Vocational Nursing; 2) State Certificates in Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aide.

Accreditation

Our programs are accredited by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.

LVN Orientation & Application Process

Attend one of our upcoming Orientation Sessions held on Zoom! Attendance at ONE of these sessions is MANDATORY for admission to the LVN Program. No sign-up is required - join using the Zoom link below.

Orientation Sessions for Spring 2027

  • Wednesday, September 16th, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm
  • Wednesday, October 14th, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm
  • Thursday, November 12th, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm

Orientation Information

  • Please log in 5 minutes before the scheduled start time so attendance can be taken.
  • Keep your microphone muted throughout the presentation.
  • Questions may be submitted through the Zoom chat or asked during the Q&A at the end of the session.
  • Attendance at ONE mandatory orientation session is required before submitting an application.
  • Please allow up to 2 Hours for the orientation session.
  • Applicants who have previously applied to the LVN Program must attend a new mandatory orientation and submit a new application.

Spring 2027 Application Period:
September 16, 2026 - November 12, 2026

  • All Applicants must complete an application to the Vocational Nursing Program. Program applications will be provided after the orientation.
  • After attending one mandatory orientation session, submit your application using the link below.
