About Educator Careers 2 Certificate of Achievement
The Educator Careers II Certificate of Achievement enables students to build and enhance educational knowledge and practical skills for careers in PK-12 Teaching, Special Education and/or Youth Work/Extended Care. This Certificate enables students to build on the 12-unit Certificate of Achievement, Educator Careers I, and additional Child Development units in addition to GE units required to expand career and transfer options. It builds to the AA-T transfer degree in Child and Adolescent Development, which is aligned with various transfer and credential pathways for teachers and counselors in education. When choosing an Ethnic Studies course, students should meet with an academic counselor to select the best option aligned with transfer goals.

The courses in the Educator Careers 2 Certificate count towards the Child and Adolescent Associates for Transfer Degree. Studying Child and Adolescent Development can lead you to a variety of different jobs or career paths, including paraeducator, youth work, TK-12 teachers aide and after additional study can enter administration, TK-12 teaching, school administration, family support, child and family therapy, school-based counseling, public policy, developmental research, educational policy and similar fields.
Program Options
The Educator Careers I and Educator Careers II Certificates and coursework count towards the AA-T Degree and are designed to be taken in order.

Transfer Options
All area CSU's and private institutions provide transfer continuity. SFSU specifically offers a variety of emphasis areas within the SFSU Child and Adolescent Development Department, for those interested in pursuing careers with children and youth. USF also offers a transfer pathway for CCSF students, and a Dual Degree Program for future teachers.
If you're interested in teaching middle or high school, you can major in the subject you want to teach. The SFSU Single Subject Credential Program offers examples. Future credentialed teachers need a BA or BS degree AND a California teaching credential. Local teacher credential programs include: SFSU, USF, SFUSD and other private and public options within the SF Bay Area. SFSU also offers the SF Scholars Program, a blended Master's and BA Program for Special Educators and Multiple ITEP s(Integrated Teacher Education Programs)
