Credit may be granted according to the external exam policy in place when the exam is completed. Please see a counselor for additional details.
Get Credit for AP, IB, and/or CLEP Standardized Exams
STEP 1: Apply to City College of San Francisco
- You must be a current CCSF student to petition for Credit for Prior Learning (CPL).
- If you are a new student, please complete the New Credit Student application.
- If you have not taken courses within the last year, you must re-apply as a Returning Credit Student.
STEP 2: Send Official Scores to Admissions and Records
- Advanced Placement (AP) and College Level Examination Program (CLEP) scores can be ordered through College Board.
- International Baccalaureate (IB) test scores can be ordered through the IB.
STEP 3: Schedule an Appointment with an Academic Counselor
- Schedule an appointment with your academic counselor to review your test scores and determine if applying for credit is right for you.
STEP 4: Complete the Petition Form
- Complete and sign the Credit for Prior Learning Petition form. Your counselor will be required to sign the form as well. The completed form can be submitted to cpl@ccsf.edu.
