Students have access to tutoring and study support that recognizes their experiences and learning needs. Tutoring is offered English, Math and African American Studies, along with computer access and printing services.
Mentorship Programs
The AARC provides peer support and mentorship opportunities that help students navigate college, find community, and build confidence in their academic paths.
Resource Libraries and Study Materials
The AARC provides students with opportunities to explore books, research materials, and academic resources that highlight Black scholars, history, and culture. Study tools and quiet areas are available for academic focus.
Career and Transfer Support
Academic counselors assist with career exploration, resume guidance, transfer questions, and planning.
Social and Cultural Events
Safe and Inclusive Community Spaces
The AARC offers lounges, study areas, computers, and comfortable spaces for students to relax, work, and build relationships.
Cultural Celebrations and Educational Events
Events will include
- Black History Month celebrations
- Juneteenth programs
- Open mic nights
- Movie nights
- Guest speakers
- Community discussions about social and environmental issues
These events uplift Black excellence and create opportunities to learn, connect, and reflect.
Student Organizations
The AARC houses student groups such as A2MEND, which supports Black leadership, advocacy, and peer connection.
Basic Needs and Wellness Support
Food and Basic Needs Resources
The AARC helps address food insecurity by offering snacks and connecting students with campus food programs and basic needs resources.
Mental Health and Wellness Referrals
The AARC provides guidance and referrals for counseling, wellness services, and emotional support. Students can seek help in a space that understands their experiences.
Hygiene and Wellness Kits Students can access

Personal and Financial Resources
Creative Expression and Healing Spaces
Students are encouraged to participate in

Topics will include
- budgeting
- understanding credit
- saving and investing
- student loan planning
- wealth building strategies
Facilitators address the barriers and inequities that affect Black communities.
Scholarship Support
The AARC helps students find and apply for scholarships, especially those created for Black students, first generation students, and creative scholars.
