1. Where will the tutoring sessions be held? Tutoring takes place in the Reading & Writing Center, located on the second floor of the Rosenberg Library in Room 205. Online sessions are available via Penji.
2. What are the operating hours of the Reading & Writing Center? For Fall 2026, the Center is open from 9-5 from Monday through Thursday.
3. How long does a typical tutoring session last? Each tutoring session is approximately 30 minutes long.
4. Until what time can I arrive for the last tutoring session of the day? The last session is accepted 30 minutes prior to closing time.
5. How frequently may I receive tutoring? Students are allowed two tutoring sessions per week, and each session can last up to 30 minutes. However, you may only have one session per day.
6. What should I bring with me for the tutoring session? Please have your ID or ID number ready. You'll use it to sign in and out at the front desk. Please also have access to your assignment and any work you have done.
7. Is the Reading & Writing Center open on Fridays? We don't find that there is enough demand for in-person tutoring on Fridays to be open in person. We do have online tutoring from 9 - 11:30 and 12 - 2 on Fridays.
8. May I schedule an appointment ahead of time? No; tutoring at the Reading & Writing Center is first-come, first served, whether you do tutoring in-person or online. If you come in person, you need to be there when it's time for your session or you will lose your place in line (usually the lines aren't too long though).
9. May I book two consecutive tutoring sessions in one day? No, students may only have one tutoring session per day.
10. What should I do once I arrive at the Reading & Writing Center? Sign in at the front desk using your student ID number. If you are here for a tutoring session, let the front desk employee know what you need help with and they will direct you to the next available peer tutor.
11. Is there a printer available in the Reading & Writing Center? No, but students can print to the STAR Center or the 4th-floor library. Please visit the Student Printing page for details.
