Course Design Academy

Course Design Academy, otherwise known as POCR, was established by the California Virtual Campus (CVC) as an effort to streamline the online learning experience for students taking online classes from multiple California Community Colleges. The goal of POCR is to give faculty the tools and knowledge they need to create accessible and engaging classes. CCSF has been certified by the CVC to train their own faculty using the Online Education Initiative rubric.

Online course design, aesthetics, and accessibility have a big impact on student engagement and success. Participating in the POCR process helped me focus on a level of granular detail I didn’t even know I was missing to craft a more inclusive, beautiful, and engaging course. - Alexis Litzky, Communication Studies Faculty

How does POCR help student learning?

During the POCR process your peers review your course and give you suggestions for improvement. The course will be flawless regarding accessibility, navigation through the course content, and more diverse and engaging assignments. All of these will help students to easily find all the information they need and build a stronger community in the online class which supports better learning. -Julita McNichol, Transitional Studies Faculty
