This project-oriented, hands-on course teaches intermediate technical skills and aesthetics of video field production. Students collaborate in teams to produce a commercial, documentary, and promotional package from concept to production. Field Production students collaborate with other departments to produce content college wide, applying storytelling techniques and deepening skills in video camera, location sound and lighting equipment operation.

This introductory Ethnic Studies course explores experiences of Asian American communities from the 19th century to the present. Students examine historical and current Asian American issues, using frameworks including Critical Race Theory, analyzing race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, socioeconomic class, labor, national origin, mixed heritages, religion/spirituality, generation, and ability, colonialism, decolonization, immigration, activism and resistance.

An introduction to the Latinx experience emphasizing their relationship to the ethnic and racial relations, culture, history, and politics of the U.S. This course will emphasize interdisciplinary Ethnic Studies methodologies and critical race theory to analyze the impact of Latinxs on American systems and institutions.

Labor and Community Empowerment teaches organizing theory and practice. It conducts an in-depth study of different periods of organizing history and of workers organizing potential today. It trains students to participate in and lead effective labor and community organizing campaigns. Planning, conducting and evaluating organizing campaigns.

The second semester of a one-year course in organic chemistry for students who major in chemistry, biochemistry, and other chemistry intensive sciences. A fundamental study of organic chemistry including nomenclature, physical properties, reactions, mechanisms, multi-step synthesis, theoretical aspects, and structure determination of major classes of organic compounds.

Examines and analyzes African American women in the U.S. with particular emphasis on the struggle for rights as people of African descent. Frameworks of race and ethnicity are used to gain a critical understanding of the contributions, strategies for success, and political activism of African American women from 1619 to the present.

Emerge Studio, an in-house visual media design studio, provides an environment for students to gain real-world skills creating and producing projects for actual clients. Students will gain practice with client communications, iterative design process, technical problem-solving, and project management for individual and collaborative design projects including websites, posters, marks, brochures, and other communications projects.

Application of visual media design skills and development of proficiency in a supervised work environment. One unit of credit is earned for 54 hours of unpaid or paid work.

Referencing and using traditional storytelling methods, the student will explore multiple ways to generate and script content for digital animation projects. Emphasis on development of skills and techniques of storyboarding.

Supporting-level performance preparation and training through participation in a tragedy presented by the Theatre Arts Department. Students must audition, be cast, rehearse, and perform a supporting role in a production in the tragedy genre in order to receive credit.
