Updated COVID and flu vaccines are now available in your local pharmacies! Student Health Services plans to offer free flu vaccines to CCSF students starting in October 2026

In April 2026, there was an overdose death in San Francisco from a new synthetic opioid called cychlorphine, which is about 10 times stronger than fentanyl.
 
The person who died was believed to have been taking counterfeit pills, which often look the same as legitimate prescription medications. Counterfeit pills can contain opioids of varying strength and other unregulated medications. Even a single pill can contain a lethal dose. Like fentanyl, the effects can come on quickly and be reversed by naloxone (Narcan). Multiple doses of naloxone may be required.
 
Please avoid using counterfeit or unregulated pills. Fentanyl test strips do not test for cychlorphine. Fentanyl is often present in counterfeit pills and may be detected using fentanyl test strips, but a negative test strip result does not mean the pill is safe.
 
Fentanyl test strips are available at CCSF Student Health Services. We also provide naloxone (Narcan) prescriptions. 

 
Anyone can get naloxone from the CBHS Pharmacy at 1380 Howard Street, 9:30am – 4pm weekdays (walk-in; no prescription required).
