STEP 1: Apply to City College of San Francisco
You must be a current CCSF student to petition for Credit for Prior Learning (CPL).
STEP 2: Contact the CPL Coordinator
- Check this list to verify that CCSF has a CPL-approved course that aligns with your prior learning experience.
- If you have work experience that relates to a course we offer but that is not on our approved list, you should still reach out for guidance. Our coordinator will work with the appropriate discipline faculty members on your behalf.
- Email our CPL Coordinator, Lisa King at eking@ccsf.edu. Please attach any relevant documentation, if possible. She will determine if CPL may be a good fit for you and guide you through the petition process.
STEP 3: Meet with a CPL counselor
If the CPL Coordinator determines that you may be eligible for CPL, you will schedule an appointment with our counselor to ensure that CPL aligns with your current academic goals. Ultimately, the decision to accept CPL units is up to you, but we want to ensure you are fully informed about their benefits and possible limitations.
STEP 4: Complete the submission form
Complete and sign the Credit for Prior Learning Petition form and submit it to cpl@ccsf.edu.
