STEP 1: Apply to City College of San Francisco
You must be a current CCSF student to petition for Credit for Prior Learning (CPL).
STEP 2: Submit your official military transcript to the Admissions and Records Office
- Army, Navy, Marine Corps, & Coast Guard: Order your Joint Services Transcript (JST) through the JST website and have it sent directly to Admissions and Records.
- Air Force: Order your official transcripts from the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) and have it sent directly to Admissions and Records.
STEP 3: Meet with a counselor
If you served in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard, you should contact the CPL Counselor to review your training and determine whether CPL aligns with your current academic goals.
NOTE: Since CCAF is an accredited college, Air Force transcripts are evaluated by the Office of Admissions and Records. These service members are not eligible for CPL, so they can meet with any academic counselor to discuss how their training fits with their academic goals.
STEP 4: Complete the CPL petition form
Complete and sign the Credit for Prior Learning Petition form. Then ensure you obtain your counselor's signature and they will submit it to Admissions and Records on your behalf.
