Catalog Description

Linguistic, cultural, and systemic barriers impede the health of individuals and can be costly to society at large. This course provides skills and strategies to advance language justice and equip monolingual and multilingual health workers to work cross-culturally by providing services that are culturally and linguistically appropriate, and through advocacy that promotes systemic changes, empowering self and clients.

Section Notes

This class requires live online meetings that take place on Mondays from 5:10pm – 9pm and the use of Canvas with no required in-person meetings. Live online meetings require the use of CityZoom, Zoom’s web conferencing platform in Canvas, using an internet enabled device. Students will also complete coursework in Canvas, which must be accessed using an internet enabled device. This class is part of CityOnline.
