Health & Wellness Resources

CCC Health & Wellness | The goal of CCC Health & Wellness is to support the 115 CCC colleges in identifying, implementing, and sustaining strategies for addressing student health, mental health, wellness, and basic needs.

CAIR California | The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is a nonprofit, grassroots civil rights and advocacy organization. CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties organization, with offices nationwide, including in the Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, and San Diego areas. Legal services include incident reporting.

Mental Health Toolkit | This toolkit includes resources for individuals and mental health professionals to effectively address the unique mental health challenges that Muslims face. This toolkit also includes specific resources for addressing the needs of American Muslim children who face the added challenge of bullying from peers and adults alike.

Muslim Wellness Foundation | Muslim Wellness Foundation is dedicated to promoting healing and well-being, while reducing the stigma associated with mental illness, addiction, and trauma through dialogue, education, and training.

 

National Center for School Crisis & Bereavement | The National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement (NCSCB) at the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work is dedicated to supporting students through crisis and loss.

On Teaching in a Time of Terrorism | This blog post from Facing History, a nonprofit organization dedicated to engaging students in examination of racism and prejudice, provides suggested strategies for discussing terrorism and mass attacks in the classroom.

Secondary Traumatic Stress: A Fact Sheet for Child-Serving Professionals | For therapists, child welfare workers, case managers, and other helping professionals, listening to trauma stories may take an emotional toll that compromises professional functioning and quality of life. This fact sheet outlines options for assessment, prevention, and interventions for secondary traumatic stress.

3CSN: Northern California Learning Network | The Northern California Learning Network (NCLN) is one of seven regional networks established by the California Community Colleges’ Success Network (3CSN). With 3CSN’s infrastructure and support, each region’s coordinator facilitates professional development events centered on effective practices for promoting student success across disciplines, programs, and campuses.

Professional Learning Network | The Professional Learning Network is a one-stop site for effective practices, trainings, and other resources for California Community Colleges faculty, staff, administrators, and trustees. The purpose of the Professional Learning Network, which was launched in April 2016, is to provide information and resources to college personnel on improving operations and student success. The Professional Learning Network is funded by the CCC Chancellor’s Office as part of the Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative.

American Council on Education | ACUE (the Association of College and University Educators) is a new company founded in 2014 by leaders in higher education to advance effective instruction, support college educators, and promote student success. ACUE partners with colleges and universities to implement scalable, research-based faculty development programs leading to a Certificate in Effective College Instruction.

Lynda.com | One of the best-known and most respected online professional training websites is free to CCSF instructors. It is also available to California Community Colleges professionals at no cost through the PLN website.

Center for Urban Education | CUE (The Center for Urban Education) is the creator of the Equity Scorecard Process, which is an action research process that includes theories of change, tools, framework and sustainability practices that allow campuses to address equity gaps and embed practices for sustained change. Various aspects of Equity Scorecard Process are used with campus collaborations across the United States.

Career Ladders Project | The Career Ladders Project (CLP) aims to improve educational and career outcomes for Californians. We foster these opportunities through research, policy reforms and strategic assistance to community colleges—and their K16 education, workforce and community partners.

Recently, CLP created the California Counseling Network (CACN), a professional forum for collaboration and innovation among counselors and student support colleagues serving students in secondary and postsecondary pathways.

California Virtual Campus | The California Virtual Campus – Online Education Initiative (CVC-OEI) is a collaborative effort among California Community Colleges (CCCs) to ensure that significantly more students are able to complete their educational goals by increasing both access to and success in high-quality online courses.

The CVC-OEI is sponsored by the Foothill-De Anza Community College District as the recipient of a $56.9 million five-year grant disbursed by the California Community College Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO). Composed of high-quality online courses, resources for students, and technology, the CVC-OEI represents a comprehensive and collaborative program that leverages effective practices and technology to significantly increase the opportunity for higher education degree attainment in California.
