This course establishes foundation for later sport-specific physical preparation and intense training. Its primary emphasis is general preparation and some specialized skills and strength conditioning exercises to work all the major muscles and joints. Key areas of study will also include sports injuries prevention and rehabilitation, nutrition, and mental skills.

This course introduces the fundamentals of flag football, including basic skills, rules, and strategies. Emphasis is on passing, catching, running, offensive and defensive positioning, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Designed for students with little or no prior experience in flag football.

Practical professional experiences related to the field of Kinesiology and Physical Education. Students complete an unpaid internship with a CCSF intercollegiate sports team to gain meaningful work experience and earn credit towards their Athletic Coaching and/or Personal Training Certificate of Achievement. Students will be exposed to the practical application and responsibilities of coaching and personal training through observation and hands-on training. One unit of credit is earned for 54 hours of unpaid or paid work.

Builds on knowledge and skills from PE 217A: Beginning Stretching and Flexibility. Includes isometric and combination stretches, identification of muscle group pairs, basic anatomical terminology, and stretching sequences for specific activities or sports.
