A computer literacy course using personal computers. Prepares students to use computer applications. Provides an overview of computer components including hardware, software, and data, as well as computer concepts related to networks and security. Includes fundamentals of Windows and other operating systems and applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentations and the internet. Students use computers to complete class assignments.

Studies U.S. popular culture as a means of communicating cultural values and attitudes. Evaluates popular culture in different mediums, such as advertisements, social media, television, film, and politics. Uses communication methods to develop a greater understanding of the ways communication functions as a vehicle for social change.

Influence of cultures, languages, and social patterns on how members of groups relate among themselves and with members of different ethnic and cultural groups. This course examines the international history of cinema from its late 19th century origins to the 1930s. The development of film technology, aesthetics, and genre are covered from 1880s France to the establishment of the Hollywood Studio System. Topics include early film technology, the development of Classic Hollywood style, French Impressionism, German Expressionism, Soviet Montage, early animation, the introduction of sound technology, and the establishment of the Hollywood studio system.

The history and development of cult films and the integral role cannabis and drug culture has and continues to play in their creation, production and reception. We will explore the subversiveness of cult films and the practices of cult audiences; analyze the transgressive nature of midnight movies, questions of taste, film aesthetics, and the influence of cult films and cannabis culture on mainstream cinema and branding.
