Automotive Braking Systems

This course prepares future technicians to perform automotive brake system repair with an
understanding of operation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance, including disk brakes, drum brakes, anti-lock, and stability control systems. Preparation for the ASE Brakes test (A-5 test)

Engine Repair

This course prepares students to diagnose and repair automotive engines. Includes specialized training in the use of specialized measuring devices and assembly equipment. Preparation for the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) A-1 test.

Automotive Electrical

This course prepares students to diagnose and repair automotive electrical systems. Includes specialized training in the use of electrical meters, scopes, and electrical testing equipment--plus preparation for the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) A-6 test.

Intro to Automotive Mechanics

Introduction to automotive systems, industry best practices, basic vehicle fluid and wheel services, and safety practices. Orientation to the automobile: technical vocabulary, systems, components, safety procedures, proper use of appropriate tools and equipment, and development of hands-on skills. Basic maintenance and repair of the automobile in accord with Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification.

Galaxies and the Universe

Introduction to cosmology, galactic and extragalactic astronomy, with a focus on basic questions of existence: Where do we come from and what is our fate? Covers the universe's origin, evolution, fate, expansion and acceleration, cosmological models explaining these, large scale structure, dark matter and dark energy, properties and phenomena of galaxies, including the Milky Way and active galactic nuclei.
