San Francisco, CA – City College of San Francisco is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. ACCJC is an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education.

Member institutions participate in a regular, recurring self-evaluation and peer review cycle to provide assurance of quality education, promote effectiveness and continuous quality improvement, and maintain the quality of higher education in the United States. During the most recent accreditation cycle, City College of San Francisco received reaffirmation of its accreditation for the full seven-year period in January 2017.

In January 2024, the Commission will once again conduct a review of the College as part of this regular cycle. To inform this review, the College submitted an Institutional Self Evaluation Report (ISER) to ACCJC in December 2022. The ISER provides evidence of the College’s effectiveness, quality of education, and continuous quality improvement and is accessible on the College’s accreditation website (www.ccsf.edu/accreditation).

Using the ISER as the basis for review, an accreditation peer review team will conduct a focused site visit from October 2-4. The visiting team includes 5 faculty and administrators from peer colleges.

Students, faculty, staff, and members of the public are invited to an open forum on Tuesday, October 3, during which the visiting team will solicit input. To ensure participants can express themselves freely, neither members of the governing board nor senior leaders will attend this session.

On Wednesday, October 4, the peer review team will provide an exit report regarding their visit. The exit report will not include any specific findings or recommendations.

These sessions are open to students, faculty, staff, and members of the public. Details will be available on the College’s accreditation website (www.ccsf.edu/accreditation), which also includes a third-party comment form through which individuals can also provide input up to five weeks prior to the focused site visit (this form is also accessible on ACCJC’s website: https://accjc.org/forms/third-party-comments/).
