Instructor Bio

The diverse community of students at City College is a the best part of my job here. I enjoy learning from the students in a collaborative classroom culture with plenty of discussion and community activity. In the classroom, I particularly enjoy talking to students about how we can extend our reading stamina to handle the texts that college (and our world) puts in front of us.

I have been teaching English at CCSF since 2009, and have been the coordinator of the TRIO Writing Success Project since 2017. In this role, I work in a community of tutors and advisors who help students reach their goals. We talk a lot about the challenges and triumphs of being a first-gen college student and paving the way for others to move successfully through college.

I have a B.A. in English from the University of Chicago (1996) and an M.A. in English from Stanford University (2009).

When I'm not teaching, I'm often swimming (in a pool or the bay), reading, or going on a hike.
