Catalog Description
Introductory astronomy course with an emphasis on the development of the cosmos and its components. The origin, evolution, and final state of our physical universe. Properties, formation, and evolution of our galaxy and other galaxies, the sun and other stars, and our solar system. Extrasolar planets and the possibility of life elsewhere in the universe.

This class requires in-person meetings and the use of Canvas. In-person meeting information (Thursday 3/12/2026 from 3:10 to 5:00 PM at Ocean Campus; Tuesday 5/19/2026 from 3:10 to 5:30 PM at Ocean Campus) is in the class schedule. Students will also complete coursework in Canvas, which must be accessed using an internet enabled device. This class is part of CityOnline and is 17.5 weeks.
