Catalog Description
This course examines Pacific Islander migrations to the United States mainland including the history, culture, and politics of Hawai'i and U.S. Pacific territories. It explores indigenous cultures and American experiences of Pacific Islanders from Guam, American Samoa, Palau, Marshall Islands, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Tahiti, New Zealand, and Australia.

This class requires in-person, live online meetings and the use of Canvas. In-person meeting information (meeting days, times, location) is in the class schedule. The first class meeting is Tuesday 09/29/2026. Students will also complete coursework in Canvas, which must be accessed using an internet enabled device. Live online meetings require the use of CityZoom, Zoom’s web conferencing platform in Canvas, using an internet enabled device. This class is part of CityOnline and is 12 weeks.
