Catalog Description
Building on previous experience, intermediate students will explore more advanced jewelry and metal smithing techniques including stone setting, sinking, angle raising, synclastic/anticlastic raising, kinetic junctions, and forging. Emphasis is placed on refining technical skills, development of tool use, knowledge of safe practices, personal expression, and refinement of aesthetic sense.

This class requires in-person, live online meetings, the use of Canvas, hands-on technical exercises and projects created both at home and on campus. In-person meeting information (meeting days, times, location) is in the class schedule. Students will also complete coursework in Canvas, which must be accessed using an internet-enabled device. Live online meetings require the use of CityZoom, Zoom’s web conferencing platform in Canvas, using an internet enabled device. This class is part of CityOnline and is 18 weeks.
