Catalog Description
Introduction to ethical and legal issues in counseling people with substance use disorders. Study frameworks for addressing ethical and legal issues, including a variety of socio-cultural models, and develop an understanding of laws, code of ethics, and client rights. The relationship between personal values and professional behavior will be explored along with an introduction to client-centered counseling and practice.
Section Notes
This class requires in-person, live online meetings and the use of Canvas. In-person meeting information (meeting days, times, location) is in the class schedule. Students will also complete coursework in Canvas, which must be accessed using an internet enabled device. Live online meetings require the use of CityZoom, Zoom’s web conferencing platform in Canvas, using an internet enabled device. PREREQ: HLTH 100 Recommended Preparation, (Readiness for college-level English) or ESL 188
