Catalog Description
Introduction to basic jewelry metal arts fabrication processes and design approaches: use of tools and materials, soldering, cold connections, forming, stone setting, and basic three-dimensional design principles vocabulary. Emphasis is placed on gaining technical skills, knowledge of safe practices, personal expression, and the evolution of an aesthetic sense with historical and conceptual considerations.
Section Notes
This class requires in-person, live online meetings, the use of Canvas, hands-on technical exercises and projects created both at home and on campus. In-person meeting information (meeting days, times, location) is in the class schedule. Students will also complete coursework in Canvas, which must be accessed using an internet-enabled device. Live online meetings require the use of CityZoom, Zoom’s web conferencing platform in Canvas, using an internet enabled device. This class is part of CityOnline and is 18 weeks.
