This course offers the student supervised field experience in community organization, agency, or institution, allowing the student to apply knowledge and learn skills outside of the classroom. Weekly class meetings add academics to this experiential course and reinforces the application of concepts gained in Soc 11. This course is designed to provide opportunities to develop skills to gain employment in the field. One unit of credit is earned for 54 hours of unpaid or paid work.

An introduction to the Latinx experience emphasizing their relationship to the ethnic and racial relations, culture, history, and politics of the U.S. This course will emphasize interdisciplinary Ethnic Studies methodologies and critical race theory to analyze the impact of Latinxs on American systems and institutions.

Capstone field internship with a paramedic preceptor on an ambulance for evaluation of baseline competency as safe, entry level paramedic pursuant to national and state standards and regulations in the emergency medical services (EMS) professions. Course completes with a review of terminal competency requirements, exit examinations and medical director review of student competency as a safe, entry level paramedic. One unit of credit is earned for 54 hours of unpaid or paid work.
