The practice and study of skills and knowledge required for entry level employment as a journeyperson in the plumbing industry. Focus on occupational hazards, safety, first aid, CPR, blueprint reading, use of basic drawings, common cutting and welding practices, gas and arc welding, soldering, brazing, residential plumbing repairs and installations, troubleshooting residential plumbing problems, and recommended industrial practices.

Education and skills training in peer education to promote healthy relationships and reduce sexual violence, specifically intimate partner violence and acquaintance rape. Peer education activities include preparation of a facilitation plan, campus-wide visibility projects, presentations to CCSF classes and volunteer work in community-based organizations. Field project required.

Designed for bilingual/heritage students who are effective in oral communication in Spanish within their communities, but have little formal training in written forms of the language. Intensive review of grammar, composition and translation. Emphasis on sufficient control of language (vocabulary, structures, conventions of spoken and written language) to understand fully and with ease a variety of more complex texts that have a clear, organized structure.

Designed for general education or those students majoring in one of the Behavioral Sciences. Introduction to human interaction from the sociological perspective and through the utilization or sociological concepts, theories and principles. Topics include culture, socialization, organizations, deviance, stratification, institutions, population, and social change.

This course offers the student supervised field experience in community organization, agency, or institution, allowing the student to apply knowledge and learn skills outside of the classroom. Weekly class meetings add academics to this experiential course and reinforces the application of concepts gained in Soc 11. This course is designed to provide opportunities to develop skills to gain employment in the field. One unit of credit is earned for 54 hours of unpaid or paid work.

An exploration of the experiences, theories, and research concerning issues of race and ethnicity as they relate to individual and group behavior, emotion, and thinking, including attitudes, identity development, racism, bias, privilege, coping strategies, and intersectional experiences. Psychohistorical analysis of the experiences of African Americans, Asian Americans, Latinx Americans, Arab Americans, and Native Americans.

An introduction to the theoretical constructs describing personality, including how personality develops and the dynamics of human behavior. Current research and intersectional approaches to understanding personality are addressed.

A supervised work experience in developing a professional relationship with patients, pharmacy staff, and other health care personnel in a retail pharmacy and hospital setting focusing on professional attitudes and work-related entry-level competencies. One unit of credit is earned for 54 hours of unpaid or paid work.

Integrates study strategies, critical analysis, and communication skills in preparation for lifelong success in academic, professional, and personal development. Includes time management, critical thinking, personal and educational values, written and spoken communication, informational literacy, research skills, equity and social justice, navigation of educational systems, online learning, health, and financial literacy.

Students complete an internship with local employers to gain meaningful work experience and earn credit towards a certificate in the Health Education field. One unit of credit is earned for 54 hours of unpaid or paid work.
