Instructor Bio

An image maker at heart, educator by nature, and business manager by trade, Liam Clickenger (formerly known as Ken) wears many hats. His photographic work typically includes cultural and environmental themes, charged with personal perspective and social commentary. His work has been exhibited in the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles and through his work in the photography industry over the last two decades, has worked with many national and global brands.

Through his widely varied experiences with industries and diverse communities of people, Liam is deeply connected to pursuits of equitable access and is constantly striving to center enthusiasm and authenticity in his pursuits to bring knowledge, awareness, mentorship, and education to others. 

Liam pioneered efforts in Bay Area higher education to bring industry-leading photography tools & techniques to the classroom when he developed the curriculum of "Advanced Digital Capture" at the Academy of Art University in 2013. Focused on Phase One digital imaging and Capture One software, this course was the first to make such professional standards accessible to students. He more recently brought similarly relevant courses to the student body at City College of San Francisco, including those taught in PHOT102C and PHOT102E. Liam also teaches PHOT99 Business Practices of Photography, and occasionally PHOT51 Beginning Photography and PHOT60B Photoshop for Photographers 2. 

He has most recently been co-owner of Capitol Art studios, served on the national Diversity Committee for American Photographic Artists, and was the Executive Director of their San Francisco chapter.
