Instructor Bio

Amy’s research, teaching and community work focuses heavily on the idea of academic belonging, which is centered by the Puente pedagogy of cariño (caring). Amy has been co-facilitated Culturally Responsive Teaching trainings with the Puente State Office from 2020-21.   In June 2021, she earned her Educational Therapy Certificate from UC Riverside Extension, which provides her with additional tools and strategies to support students with ADHD, Anxiety and Dyslexia in this essential self-discovery:  they are competent, capable learners who belong in the academic environment.  

Amy has been teaching at CCSF since 2003.
