Catalog Description
Doula preparation, including perinatal and postpartum care, emotional and physical support, and birth knowledge. The course is grounded in a strength-based and community-focused approach to birth work that integrates evidence-based practice with ancestral wisdom. The curriculum is community-rooted, utilizing the wisdom and lived experience of current community doulas, Black and Indigenous birthing practices, lactation specialists, midwives, OB/GYNs, and other providers. Students who complete this course along with a field experience requirement will be eligible to take the state certification exam.
