Department mission:

The mission of the City College of San Francisco Veterans Services Office is to serve veteran students with the highest level of support and dedication in order to enhance the successful transition from military life into a chosen field or career through education. Some of the staff and services offered to our student veterans include; veteran academic counselors, certifying officials, VA health care enrollment, VA social work & mental health clinicians, educational and career planning, referrals to local programs for more assistance, and help in obtaining educational benefits under the GI Bill®*.

Program Outcomes

Our programs are on a regular cycle of review, during which outcomes are updated and revised. 

   

Student Learning Outcomes

By the end of a counseling appointment with a Veteran's counselor, students will have acquired knowledge of benefits and services available, educational planning, appropriate referrals for added personal and emotional support, registration information, and transfer information.

As a result of their participation in the departmental student employment program, students will identify and exhibit characteristics associated with effective employees (i.e. timeliness, accurate task completion, appropriate behavior, confidentiality, etc.), effectively articulate and interpret departmental policies and procedures, and demonstrate respect and courtesy to students, faculty, staff, and community members who interact with the office.
