Book Assistance

Books

The CalWORKs program provides book assistance to eligible CalWORKs participants each semester including Fall, Spring, and Summer.

Eligbile students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be an active CalWORKs cash aid recipient
  2. Be enrolled at City College of San Francisco for the semester requesting book assistance
  3. Provide a current Welfare-to-Work Plan each semester requesting books
  4. Provide a current CalWORKs Educational Plan and be enrolled in classes listed on the plan

Supply Support

The CalWORKs program also provides support with general school supplies up to $25 per Fall and Spring semester. Supply support is not available during the Summer semester. Students must also meet the above eligibilty requirements.

Tutoring

Free tutoring is available for all CalWORKs students. Our tutors are available to help students in the subjects of English, Math, and Science. In addition, laptops are available for use. The Homework Club provides a quiet and supportive space where students may do homework, study, and receive tutoring. In addition, hours spent in the Homework Club count as study time towards your county activity hours. Graduation Cap & Gowns

Grads

Graduation Cap and Gowns are also funded by the CalWORKs Program to eligible CalWORKs students.

Eligbile students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be an active CalWORKs cash aid recipient
  2. Provide proof of AA/AS Petition or Certificate request form
  3. Provide proof of graduation submission request

Priority Registration

Eligible CalWORKs students can receive priority registration. To receive priority registration, CalWORKs students must:

  • Not exceed 100 units
  • Not be on Academic Probation
  • Not be on Progress Probation
If a student loses their priority registration, there is a one-time appeals process. To appeal, students should go to the Registration office in Smith Hall, RM 118.
