Welcome to the Evans Center! Located in San Francisco’s Bayview neighborhood at 1400 Evans Avenue, at the corner of Mendell Street. The Evans Center is one of City College of San Francisco’s (CCSF) nine Centers. It is a 90,000 square foot facility that opened in 1994. The original goal of the campus was to consolidate CCSF’s Skilled Trades and Automotive Programs at one site. In its early years, Evans Center was the preeminent West Coast teaching factory for the apparel and garment trades and industry. It is now home to an award winning automotive program. The intent has always been that the Evans Center will complement offerings at the nearby Southeast Center.
Students who choose to study at the Evans Center can take courses in the following areas:
- Contextualized ESL
Contract Education programs, career technical education and, pre-apprenticeship programs are also offered at the Evans Center, these include:
- Automotive Pre-Apprenticeship (a joint program with the San Francisco Department of Human Resources, SF MTA, The Golden Gate Bridge and Tradeswomen Inc.)
- CityBuild Academy (A joint program with the Mayor’s Office of Economic, and Workforce Development)
- Foster care families and caregivers support classes
Evans Center News
The Evans Center facility is currently being renovated. The first phase is underway and includes repurposing the front parking lot for the temporary Sprung buildings. The Sprung will house offices, student services, and limited instructional space. Planned Capital Improvements to the Evans Center include:
- Roof Replacement
- New HVAC
- Seismic Retrofit
Classes will continue at the Evans Center during the Capital Improvements process, so please join the Evans Center Community by taking classes.
