Semester in Madrid

At present there are no semester programs being offered by CCSF. If you are interested in studying abroad during either the fall or spring semester, please email the Study Abroad Coordinator, Jill Heffron to be put on a mailing list for future programs or to set-up an advising session to learn about semester program options outside of CCSF for which you may qualify.

Spend a semester in Madrid, a true European capital, known throughout the world for its museums and monuments, which reflect Spain's proud history. Immerse yourself in the Spanish language and the culture of the "city that never sleeps". Madrid is your classroom as you study Spanish Language, and Conversation at La Universidad Complutense de Madrid, one of the most prestigious universities in Spain. Students may also take classes in Art History which will be taught in both a classroom setting and on-site at museums, monuments and historical sites within and outside the city of Madrid, and the Culture and Civilization of Spain, which will be taught primarily online.

The ACCENT Madrid Study Center is located on Paseo General Martínez Campos, 42 in the heart of the traditional Castilian neighborhood of Chamberí, just a few steps away from the historical Instituto Internacional, with which ACCENT has collaborated since 2004. A walk around this quiet area leads students to local cultural sights such as the Museo Sorolla, the British Council of Madrid, and the sunny 19th century Plaza de Chamberí, and bustling neighborhood market.

Students participating in the Semester in Madrid program can choose to live in either furnished apartments or in homestays with local families.

This program provides transferable credit from CCSF for courses completed overseas. Also, students enrolled in an eligible program may be able to receive state and federal financial aid and scholarships to help defray the costs of study abroad.
