Degree-Seeking Students

Are your goals to earn a college certificate, college degree, or transfer to a 4-year college or university?  Then the Academic Program is right for you.

To determine if you qualify for the Academic Program, please answer the following questions:

Do you have a minimum:

  • TOEFL score of 483 Paper-based?
  • or iBT (Internet-based TOEFL) score of 56?
  • or IELTS score of 5.5?

If your answer is YES to any of the above questions, then you qualify to apply for the Academic Program.

If your answer is NO TO ALL the above questions, you may still apply for the Academic Program under Conditional Admission.

What does Conditional Admission mean?

Students will first attend the Intensive English Program (IEP) at City College of San Francisco (CCSF) and improve their English. Then they will take the Institutional TOEFL Test at CCSF or the CCSF Placement Test while studying in the IEP.  If they get a TOEFL score of 56 (Internet-based) or 483 (Paper-based), they will be admitted to the Academic Program at CCSF for the following semester.

Non-Degree-Seeking Students

Are you a student who are interested in taking classes at City College of San Francisco (CCSF) but will not pursue a degree?  We have the follow programs for you:

Concurrent Enrollment Program

This program allows you to enroll in classes at CCSF (with the consent of the instructor) without being admitted for a degree program. Although you are enrolling in this way, you will still be expected to follow the course, take the exams and turn in assignments as a regularly admitted CCSF student would.

Intensive English Program

This program offers an academic focused English program and prepares students to become effective, confident speakers of English in academic institutions and professional settings as well as in everyday life. The IEP's coordinator, student advisor and staff are always ready to assist students in reaching their goals.
