International Business

International Business classes and certificate programs are designed those who are

  • Preparing for a career in international business
  • Currently employed and require expertise in international business practices
  • Entrepreneurs who want to begin or globalize their business ventures


Credit International Business Certificate of Accomplishment

Students may earn the credit International Business Certificate of Accomplishment by completing six 3-unit classes for a total of 18 units. All credit that students earn in International Business may also be applied toward satisfaction of the requirements toward graduation from the college. Please see curriculum for more information and catalog for class details.


Noncredit International Business Certificate of Completion

The tuition-free noncredit International Business Certificate of Completion covers the major factors required in international business including marketing, planning, shipping, finance, documentation, insurance, customs regulations, and government assistance programs.  Students will learn about business practices and trade issues for countries in Asia, Europe, Africa, Middle East and Latin America.

The certificate requires completion of 15 3-hour classes for a total of 45 classroom hours. Please see curriculum for more information including financial aid eligibility. See catalog course information details.


International Business Courses

Credit classes are offered in the day and evening and are located at the Ocean Campus and Downtown Campus. One class is offered online.

Noncredit classes are offered in the evening and located at the Downtown Campus.

How to Enroll

For new students, please see information about becoming a noncredit or credit student. You may also contact the Office of Admissions at (415) 239-3285. Many noncredit classes allow for registration in class; there is no tuition cost for noncredit classes. Please refer to tuition information for specifics on City College credit tuition costs. Financial Aid is available for those who qualify. You may also call the Financial Aid Office at (415) 239-3576.


Applying for a Certificate

When you have completed all the required classes, fill out a petition for a certificate. The petition form is available in Admissions and Records, Conlan Hall, Room 107, and should be submitted at the beginning of the semester that you complete all the requirements. Petitions must submitted by the deadline posted in the Calendar of Instruction.
