EKG Technician

What will I learn in this program?

The EKG Technician Program prepares students to gain competency skills in the use of various EKG/ECG machines, patient preparation, mounting and interpretation of heart rhythms. Anatomy of the cardiovascular system, associated medical terminology and specific disease states as related to tracings are covered in the first semester. The second semester includes treadmill, Holter monitor technology, advanced cardiovascular diseases and congenital anomalies. Students must complete EKGT 101 and EKGT 102 to receive the EKG Technician Certificate.

There is orientation for this program.

Does this program have any special costs?

Students who elect to participate in an internship must have a background check prior to hospital placement.  This is required by all hospitals and is a cost to the student.  Students must also carry photo ID identifying them as a CCSF student.
