Exploring a Degree in Liberal Studies?

Are you seeking a course of study that satisfies both general education and lower division major requirements while meeting degree requirements and providing you with the foundational skills to succeed in today’s workforce?

Liberal Studies focus on:

  • broad knowledge of the world
  • critical thinking to deal with complexity, diversity, and change
  • a foundation of courses to transfer to a four-year university; and
  • areas of study that lead to interest in specialized majors and employment

Liberal Arts and Science is a foundational degree that sets you up to succeed. You can get started down the right path by following the IGETC general education pathway. You will gain skills for today’s economy while completing the courses you need for an associate degree and transfer to a university. Once you have discovered your passion, all of the classes you have already taken count toward the general education requirements to transfer. Make an appointment with a counselor to learn about this option.
