Getting Acquainted with the Guitar

Never seen a guitar before?  Then this is the class for you.  An introduction to playing the instrument either finger style or using a pick.  In this class you will develop a solid musical foundation and develop a flexible guitar technique adaptable to virtually any style.  Class includes reading music, picking basic chords and opportunities to play  both solo and with others.  The teacher will listen to every student play and provide coaching that will encourage each individual’s strengths and minimize their weaknesses.  Regular practice is crucial for mastering the music and maximizing your enjoyment.

By the end of this workshop the student will be able to…

Describe the parts of the guitar

Demonstrate proper guitar playing techniques

Play a few simple pieces on the first four strings of the guitar

Play a few simple chord progressions with a variety of right hand techniques
