Grammer Brush Up for Writers

Register Now

This informative and enjoyable 3-hour workshop focuses on English grammar use geared to native speakers, and helps writers make the best grammar, punctuation, and word use choices for their work. Being an inspired writer does not guarantee perfection; writing quality suffers and confuses readers when repeated errors are in the mix. Writers with grammar questions will find the workshop a safe place to learn the fundamentals and beyond. Fill in knowledge gaps and gain confidence to write with renewed certainty. Included are reference handouts to take home.

By the end of the workshop, students will be able to:

• Increase their grammar skills and have more confidence in writing

• Know the basics of correct tense use and the parts of speech

• Understand the specifics of punctuation to avoid common errors such as comma splices, misplaced semi-colons, and run-on sentences

• Distinguish between similar words that are often confused, and to select the correct word choice for their project

• Identify commonly misspelled words and catch mistakes

• Be comfortable with basic sentence construction, spelling rules, and related grammar points
