SUMMARY OF PRESENTATION ON 9/17 ON CHALLENGES FACING FACILITIES ACROSS THE COLLEGE
Many of the college’s current facilities are in need of substantial repair. These repairs have been identified by both the visiting team and by FCMAT as an area that needs to be addressed.
The state, after several years of providing no funding for facilities maintenance, has finally started to fund this program again. In 2013-14, CCSF’s expected share is about $430K
The special Trustee has informed the college community that for a variety of reasons he has decided not to move ahead with the Performing Arts Center project. The local bond funds available for that project will be redirected to the bond category for funding refurbishment, remodeling, and ADA work.
The method the Acting VCFA has proposed for distributing those funds includes three primary sources of input:
- The FUSION system that all community colleges use to track their maintenance needs building by building.
- The daily hands-on experience of CCSF’s crafts works and engineers.
- The upcoming Program Review cycle, during which all departments will be instructed to formally request their facilities related needs.
Day to day cleaning of the college cannot be substantially improved without hiring additional custodians and gardeners.
