From:    Dr. Thelma Scott-Skillman, Interim Chancellor

It was an incredible week for City College co-hosting the American Association of Community College’s Annual Convention.  This convention was among the largest and most active gatherings of educational leaders, attracting over 2,000 community college presidents and senior administrators, as well as international educators, representatives of business/industry, and federal agencies.  I would like to thank the cadre of City College volunteers who shared their enthusiasm and pride representing CCSF and assisting the convention organizers.    Wearing their bright red volunteer t-shirts and welcoming the out-of-town guests to the City by the Bay, CCSF made known its presence among the attendees.   Our own music department students also had a chance to display their talents over 3 days to more than 2,000 participants during the convention.  In addition, the College showcased two of its neighborhood centers, the Downtown Center and its Educated Palate, and the Chinatown/Northbeach Center with special tours listed on the program and website.   Thank you to Karen Saginor and Gohar Momjian for participating in the panel discussion with Dr. Pamila Fisher and myself, sharing the hard work of our faculty, staff, and administrators to address the accreditation recommendations.   There was great interest on the part of all attendees to see City College succeed, as well as learn from CCSF’s experience.   I would like to particularly thank Kathleen Alioto, Grace Esteban, Letha Higgins, Linda Shaw, and Jessica Williams for providing excellent support to AACC and coordinating a dynamic group of volunteers and performers.
