Instructor Bio

Michelle Simotas teaches creative writing and English composition courses at CCSF. She also runs the Creative Writing program's Lit Night where CCSF students, faculty, and staff join the SF community to read original work of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction every third Monday of the month. Michelle has spent the last five years as the RiSE coordinator leading the college in transformational, equity-focused redesign of areas of the college identified by students as creating barriers to fulfilling their goals. Starting in Fall 2021, Michelle will serve as the English Department Chair dedicated to supporting students, faculty, and staff as we continue to examine ways that we can better serve students through anti-racist pedagogy and practices, active and applied transdisciplinary learning opportunities, and through scaffolded support that helps students find where their passions, skills, and future careers intersect.
