Overview

The Basics

The Participatory Governance Council is the governing system at CCSF.

Structure

The Participatory Governance processes allow for effective participation of all constituent groups, including students, in matters of college governance as outlined in Title 5. The District has codified our current decision making and resource allocation processes. These processes related to planning and development of College-Wide initiatives, Board Policies, and Administrative Procedures are outlined in Roles, Responsibilities, and Processes Handbook.

Student Involvement:

Students have the opportunity to serve on District-Wide Committees and provide the student perspective on issues that directly impact their educational experience. Students interested in serving on committees are appointed by the Associated Students Executive Council. The individuals that make up the committees are CCSF administrators, classified staff, faculty, and students. The checks and balances of the participatory governance system rely heavily on the input of members from all areas of CCSF’s community. Student representatives are the voice of the student body and stand up for their best interests.

Opportunity

Student representatives work closely with CCSF leaders and gain valuable experiences discussing and thinking critically about the issues presented to them.

The Participatory Governance System provides a unique opportunity for students to have a real say in the policies that shape our community – from the inside out.

For more information on how to get involved, please email the Assistant Director Student Activities and speak with student leaders in the Associated Student Executive Council.
