Beginning High listening comprehension skills are emphasized. Learners comprehend spoken English containing some unfamiliar words when used in familiar contexts and can participate in simple conversations.
After successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Outcome 1: Recall main ideas in spoken English from common topics in familiar contexts in spite of interference and/or not understanding every word.
- Outcome 2: Differentiate between statements and questions based on grammatical structure and intonation of learned patterns
- Outcome 3: Identify words that signal differences between present, past, and future events
- Outcome 4: Identify reduced forms.
