EMT 14 Advanced First Aid and Basic Life Support (2)

Emergency care for one and two-rescuer adult, child, and infant CPR with bag mask ventilation and AED; life-threatening, medical, environmental, and traumatic emergencies such as bleeding, burns, musculoskeletal injuries, seizures, strokes and neurological emergencies, poisonings and emergency childbirth. Qualified participants earn an American Heart Association Basic Life Support card and Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED card.
Satisfies requirements for public safety personnel as stated in Title 22, Division 9, California Code of Regulations. Students enrolled in this course will be assessed a $10 lab/material fee for CPR card and Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED card.

After successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Outcome 1: Explain the responsibilities, legal considerations, and safety issues of rescuers as they relate to medical, environmental, traumatic, and disaster scenarios.
- Outcome 2: Apply current standard cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques on adult, child, and infant victims of respiratory and cardiac arrest of medical or traumatic causes.
- Outcome 3: Apply principles of advanced first aid care to scenarios of medical, environmental, and traumatic emergencies for victims of all age groups.
- Outcome 4: Integrate knowledge and procedures for emergency childbirth into a variety of simulated patient scenarios.
