DENT 55B Dental Roentgenography (2)

Instruction in the advanced techniques of dental radiography, anatomical landmarks, dental anatomy pertaining to dental radiography, exposure and processing faults. Emphasis is on evaluation of the quality of the films both intra and extra oral. Experiences in exposing full mouth and bitewing radiographs for diagnosis by dentists. (Students must provide/recruit their patients) Advanced education and knowledge of panoramic and digital techniques and other related radiographic equipment. Lab Fee is required.

After successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Outcome 1: Demonstrate infection control, radiation safety and quality assurance as it applies to the patient and operator in a dental setting
- Outcome 2: Demonstrate appropriate patient management techniques when dental exposing radiographs.
- Outcome 3: Demonstrate the correct dental radiographic techniques for intraoral and extraoral radiographs which meet the standards for acceptable radiographs in the dental assisting program at CCSF
