Various salsa styles and techniques leading to group or solo performances will be learned. Styles and formations, including rueda, will be examined through demonstration and practice. Emphasis will be on the effective presentation of patterns.
After successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Outcome 1: Adapt individual styling and Salsa technique to meet the requirements of specific choreographies and performance situations in a way that will expand and strengthen dance technique while reducing risk of injury.
- Outcome 2: Assess and perform selected Salsa formations and group designs.
- Outcome 3: Evaluate individual responsibility to the group in meeting all production commitments.
- Outcome 4: Analyze the historical development of Salsa dance style, including current contexts.
